Is anyone no if the band is going to be bigger this year? After the season last year, there was talk af a bigger band. It would be great and if they can travel more with the team. The support is very much appreciated by the players, and helps the fans stay fired up.

I hear they are going to march in the 80s this year. The directors are doing a really job recruiting. They are slowly, but surely getting back to 96 and beyond. Your continued Diamond M Club donations will only make that number grow.

One thing to keep in mind is that a "bigger" band does not equate with being a "better" band. If that were the case, we'd have never stood a chance against the Baylor's and TCUs of the world(similar schools, student bodywise, that we used to outplay by a mile in my day). I rather have a band that's smaller that sounds and looks better than a band that has what basically amounts to "warm bodies" and doesn't sound or look all that sharp. Hopefully, the directors this year have recruited guys that can help them not only get bigger but also sound better.

Here is an idea of what is happening with the band size.
2006-07 86
2005-06 76
2004-05 58
Do your part to keep the trend going.

Let's hope the sound flat either.

Size doesn't matter.
Bigger is better.
So...which is it?

Now if you put size together with technique, then you got something.

DaimondM75, how many do you expect to have this year?

The band will be fielding 87 members this year. A number of freshmen were all-state players in high school, so the band's recruiting is improving along with the football and b-ball teams. Like DiamondM75 said, if you want to see it continue to grow, visit diamondmclub.org and help us out with scholarships for these talented and spirited students.

I asked my wife what size the band should be, and she said 5 1/2 with a large diamond.
