I was at the doctor's office today reading Lindy's collge football preview magazine and was happy to see SMU's Justin Willis listed as the 24th best quarterback in the entire country.
Wow, I knew he was good but it is sure nice to see SMU's sophmore quarterback be listed like that in national ratings.

Based on NCAA football 08 @ my house, Willis has 3 heismans and threw for 76 touchdowns as a senior.

If Willis plays like he did last year for the next three seasons, he'll annihilate every SMU passing record. Long before he graduates, too.

I'm just thrilled to be entering the season with a proven QB. The fact that he is getting national pub is icing on the cake.
When was the last time that happened? Flanigan?

Derrick Kanine.
Just kidding - Flannigan.

Where would Willis rank among Texas QBs?
Hard to argue with any spot in the top four: Willis, Harrell, McCoy and McGee are all pretty damn good.
I'd say Harrell first, Willis and McCoy tied for second, just ahead of McGee. If I'm a coach, I'd take any of them, though. Pretty stout crop for one state.

I'd put Willis at best 3rd on that list. True, his stats were virtually identical to McCoy's last year, but Colt did it against the Big 12.

With the UT OL in front of him and throwing to the UT receivers. Willis was playing behind a not very good OL and throwing to inexperienced receivers. You can't really compare the two because it's like comparing NFL QBs to AFL QBs or CFL QBs.

Yeah but we can compare arm strength. Listen, I'm a JWill fan, all I'm saying is that I suspect he might have thrown a lot more than 6 INT's had he been playing Colt's level of competition. But you're right we can't know and it really is pointless to compare them.

He also might have had more running yards, a higher completion percentage, and more TDs had he not been sacked the numerous times he got sacked last year, not to mention less INTs and fumbles since he was running for his life at times.
