Very nice quote from Pitino:

If this whole shakeup results in some good, qaulity, REGIONAL conferences among the nonBCS schools, then it will ultimately be a good thing for all of us.
It is time for all of us to stop crying in our nonBCS spilled milk and organize for our mutual survival. I understand that that premise may be a little more difficult for some to swallow--given their more glorious SWC days, but it is a fact. Surely, however, a revived SWC would be seen as a step up from the exisiting WAC.

Holy smokes.
--------------------
"We’ve got a good athletic program. Our basketball grossed $12 million,
more than anybody. We sold 19,700 season tickets, were second in
attendance. The Big East only enhances us.
"Conference USA is God-awful," Pitino exclaimed. "The worst thing about Louisville is it’s in Conference USA."
--------------------
After offering up that little gem, if Loovull doesn't go into the Big East, I'd think CUSA would want to kick them out anyway. Money maker or not, that's not the kind of member you want in a conference.

Sounds like the words of a guy who already knows Louisville to the Big East is a "done deal".
More and more, it appears these ACC tours/visits are just a formality and in part, to satisfy the "process" set up in conference by-laws.
Let's just hope by the time we tee it up for the start of our 2003 season, we know who our conference mates will be in 2005.
