I find it cute that some of them blame us for other schools not getting the death penalty. :? It is like we "fell on the sword" so no one else would ever have to suffer the fate. If blame is to be placed, perhaps it could be directed at the NCAA. I would imagine that if they had not given us the DP we would not have been upset.

But all in all it is a fun read. In the end they are still left in Lubbock.

Observations from the RP 'why I hate SMU'

Reading through that was the highlight of my hung-over morning... generally, it's hard to determine a school's educational, socioeconomic, political, religious (and not to mention jealousy) within three pages, but yep, they managed it! a few observations:

1. Tech really does spell poorly. I'm looking forward to wearing my "Beat TCEH! shirts on Monday
2. I happen to: own peach (linen) pants, pastel polos, have been known to pop my collar (to block the sun on my neck, whilst yachting), where:
2b. I use Croakies.
3. have Sperry Top-sider loafers (in blue)
4. have worn a long-sleeve shirt with a tie to the football game.
....
5. oh, and our cheerleaders are fat? every girl at Tech is fat. let's be honest.
6. I love the photo that they posted on why they hate SMU - and the fact i know the whole Photo. Way to go Grayson Jenkins (Homecoming King 2002), Adam Tauzel, Taylor Field et. al.
7. the person who illustrated the cost arbitrage of his Lone Star light habit in lieu of doing "Coke".... how about the fact that his education will likely yield a $27,400 job in Lubbock. Yeah, way to run the ROI on that one...

.... I am hung over. Go Ponies!

re: "why texas tech fans hate smu"

To be honest I was a bit surprised how nasty and down right mean some of the Texas Tech fans were last year in Lubbock.

Really, why are they so jealous?

Tech coeds angrily screaming and flipping the bird at our players as they exit the tunnel for the start of the game.

Late in the game Texas Tech was soundly beating SMU and Tech Fans were still taunting, yelling obscenities, and threatening SMU fans. Finally stadium security had to be called to the SMU section because some Texas Tech fans even started messing with an elderly SMU fan. In fact in the 4th quarter a Texas Tech rowdy actually struck an ex-SMU cheerleader's father in the head.

If you were Tech, why all the anger towards SMU?

You would of thought they were winning the Super Bowl.

Have they not beaten SMU for years?

You could understand the pent up anger if it was the Longorns who have been beating Texas Tech for years, but SMU?

Why not enjoy the lopsided victory instead of spending all your energy to yell obscenties and anger towards SMU fans?

Insted of being in a good mood and happy during a winning game it was all anger.

Where does all that anger originate?

Of course chanting F*&^ you SMU during our alma mater had an extra touch of class.

It's all in good fun, these threads appear every week. Responses usually range from "they pee on the toilet seat" to "they canceled the original Star Trek."

Where does all that anger originate?

Alcohol mainly. :D

Seriously though, I seem to recall the Mustang Band - all 60 or so of them - turning towards our student section (12.5k) and egging them on with "Tech Sucks" chants before this particular game. Not that I care (and I really don't) - just saying it's college students at a football game, and it goes both ways.

Sorry if anyone got their feelings hurt by 18 year olds using bad words.

Sorry there wreckem, but I have been going to college football games for 38 years, and those Tech fans have BECOME some of the worst I have ever seen. It's has really turned for the worse the last few times I've been there. "bad words from 18 year olds" were just the tip of the iceberg. I have to keep looking over my shoulder.......my wife is a Tech alum, and I don't want to get the frying pan against the back of my skull!

If anyone needs an exorcism from the nasty Tech fans, come to a Razorback game as an opposing fan. That will make Tech look Saintly.

Hey, don't get me wrong buddy. I'm not saying we've got a bunch of choir boys in attendance - just pointing out that Tech isn't even close to as bad as it gets for an opposing college football fan.

My personal opinion is that there's a lot of high-horse mentality here because SMU lost the game. I know, because the same thing happened to Tech fans when we lost to UNM in Albuquerque. Suddenly the Tech board was full of "those people acted terribly" and "New Mexico sucks" and "my elderly grandfather was cursed at and had his car shot full of bullets by roving bands of UNM students" threads. Give me a beak. Nobody likes losing, and this type of response is an easy way to maintain your own superiority while dismissing the other side's victory.

Just ask the Aggies, they are the Undisputed Heavyweight Champions of the World at this.

To be honest Albaquerque is possibly the most hideous town in America and it's has more than its share of horrible horrible people. I wouldn't be surprised if Lobofans were evil.

Albaquerque is a WORSE town than Lubbock. Seriously.

Every Tech girl is fat? Take some time to at least go somewhere before you start that kind of stuff...weak. That comment right there shows you have no idea what you are talking about, and the fat cheerleader is a pic, so that wasn't made up.

Bottom line: to the victors go the spoils, including the right to talk trash in the opponent's face. If we can find a way to win Monday, I would suggest the ponyfans follow this mantra, because you know damn well the Tech fans will.

I know that any game that SMU wins.........I am in a pretty dang good mood! When we were up by 40 against our two cupcakes last year, cursing like I am mad at the world, foaming at the mouth, threatening violence....never even crossed my mind? But I would never favor running up the score on folks either, it's just a difference in class and sportsmanship.......and SOME don't have any.

My point is, to the victor goes the spoils, and the victor gets to choose how to use the spoils too. Unfortunately, the Tech fans apparently realize that acing like @sses is one choice. Easiest way to avoid this is to take away the victory. I hope the stangs are up to it.

That, sir, is an unfortunate typo.
