so the mighty Rice Juggernaut has now been blown out by Troy and lost to Nichols St.. This puts our failures in perspective. Coincidentally none of these schools can recruit worth [deleted]. This conference sucks-luckily UTEP outlasted New Mexico 10-6. I'll guarantee 6-6 gets a bowl.

Now I'm curious... is it that you enjoy degrading SMU or that you enjoy thinking you've put all of us "sunshiners" in our place by degrading SMU?
What conference would you rather us be in? The WAC lite with Utah State, NMSU, and Idaho still? That way we could have a huge travel allocation in the athletic budget. Maybe we should be in the MWC? Would that suit you better?
Give it up. C-USA is our home for now and is the best fit for SMU regionally and gives us the opportunity to win championships (and no not because of the lower level of talent). Rice sucks this year because more than half of the coaching staff left for Tulsa. Rice lost to Troy last year because they thought "Sun Belt, this will be easy" and didn't try. Note that Troy hung with Arkansas (a team who was in the SEC champ game last year) until the end.

Being in the conference USA is fine all things considered. Not beating the crap out of every other C-USA team out there isn't fine. If you're going to be in a mediocre conference, you need to be on top of it.

ECU really scared #9 Va Tech. UCF beat NCState. Not sure why UTEP beating MWC New Mexico is such an example of how the conference sucks, but whatever.

I would much rather be in CUSA than the WAC or whatever...
That said, the conference is very down this year. If there was ever a chance to win the division/conference, this is it.

CUSA record is not good but there were some bright spots, as mentioned above. Also Houston's score did not look so bad.
We had better not lose to UNT but Ark St. will be difficult.

No kidding. What would Oregon have done to UNT? Or Middle Tennessee State?

All this does is put one's perspective to continue to live in the past and to always live in the past.
I think Rice 0-1, UTEP is 1-0, SMU is 0-0 and so on. I don't remember the Rice-Troy game being play in 2007.
This is nothing but an irresponsible and reckless comment.

I just say hats off to the mighty Colonels from Thibodeaux. Got a soft spot for Nicholls because that is where my parents met. Of course the fact that my parents ever met may give some of you cause to hate Nicholls now.

Nicholls State (Southland Conference) is a consistent powerhouse in that Div. 1-A FCS (formerly Div. 1-AA) conference. Way to go, Colonels! Of course, David Bailiff is the new head coach for the Owls. Last year he was the HC at Texas State University - San Marcos (formerly Southwest Texas State University). Troy State University was also in the Southland Conference up until a few years ago before moving up to Div. 1-A.
