UNIVERSITY PARK – SMU senior Wilton McCray likes to tease linebacker Tony Hawkins about the way he talks.
The Mustangs call Hawkins "Big Country Hawk," because of his East Texas roots, boots and buckles, musical selection and Longview twang.
"If you hear him talk, you're like, 'What? Where are you from?' " McCray, also a linebacker, said.
But the SMU defense needs to hear Hawkins loud and clear on the field.
