Yeah, the playcalling was pathetic on both sides of the ball. Yeah, SMU looked lost out there at times. Yeah, it looked like the team gave up in the second half. But in what SMU season haven't we seen that?
This was one game against a team we have not beaten the last seventeen times we have tried and rarely in any of those did we even keep it close.
If anything, this just goes to show that this university schedules football games like a bunch of morons and has consistently for years and years. I know scheduling is easier said than done, but nothing says you have to play Tech in week 1. SMU puts a lot of money into marketing and creating a good a feeling about its football program and then proceeds to flush most of it away by playing its arguably toughest opponent right out of the gate.
Let's get through NTSU, then Arkie State and then TCU, and see where we are.

I agree. Very logical assessment. Have you ever thought of starting your own blog?

Remember we have always started slow under Bennett and get sharper throughout the year & starting with Tech (a team that has better talent at probably 90% of positions) is tough. Of course, that begs the question of why we're lost dringthe first part of the year. I was thinking about that Navy game the whole second half. There were a few bright spots including Kenard Burley who seems to have gone unnoticed on this board.

Ok, I'll bite. Let's wait and see after our NC games where we stand. Prediction was 2-2 with 3-1 very optimistic. And we are still on track for that result.
But with the way we played yesterday, my question is this: If we lose to either UNT or ArkSt, and finish below .500 in NC play, is PB gone by mid-season?

Couldn't have said it better myself. The idea is to come out of September 3-2.
If that doesn't happen, then you can draw your own conclusions on how this season is going to turn out.
We never have and never will match up well with Tech.
It is said that a football team makes its greatest adjustments from Game 1 to Game 2. We'll see what kind of character this group has got.
And by the way, the band sucked yesterday.

Well, we've always started slow under Bennett and gotten better throughout the year but that begs the queston of why we look so bad early EVERY year and Tech's a tough matchup. Position by position, our starters probably couldn't crack their starting lineup at 80% of the positions. Unfortunately they had better coaching to go with superior talent.
Nobody's mentioned Kenard Burley for looking good. He did have a couple of back to back penalties but he did some great work out there.

If we lose to NTSU next week, Bennett may be gone by mid-game.

I say if we lose to NTSU, we switch coaches after the game.

I am sorry, but you don't need to suggest to people that this is satisfactory, they should just lower their expectations, play lesser opponents, etc.
The coaching was poor!
The results worse than last year!
The same sideline confusion and yelling and screaming from the staff blew momentum and confused our QB.
The "chicken dance" was in vouge again!
It is time to make a change.
The students showed up and left at halftime. One more generation lost to SMU football and alumni support.
Don't you people get it? This isn't satisfactory!
The status quo is not satisfactory, playing to lesser competition and competing is not satisfactory. We are in a hole and staying there is not satisfactory.

I really think we will be 1-3 after NC.

NC Games:
We lost to UNT last year, but I think this is a bounce-back game for our offense and we win. Barely.
With the way ArkSt played Texas, this will be a tough road game for us. Believe it. Toss up right now.
TCU = loss.
2-2 or 1-3.

Great, just the second worst team in the state of Texas!
