DMN Editorial Page:

We don't tailgate – or stay for the whole game
There's been much ado about the new SMU alumni slogan: "We don't tailgate. We boulevard." But it was painfully apparent from Monday's SMU-Texas Tech season opener at Ford Stadium that SMU fans were more interested in boulevarding than supporting their team. As the Red Raiders outperformed the Mustangs on the field (49-9), their fans outclassed the SMU crowd in the stands, matching them seat for seat in support and, unlike the home crowd, staying through the final play. When the chips are down, Mustangs know where to find their fans: on the boulevard.

It may be listed as an editorial, but there is not much in there that isn't just a fact.

The truth hurts.

But I'm proud to say that I was in the stands supporting the Mustangs until the final gun last Monday.

Leaving for Ford now. GO MUSTANGS! BEAT NORTH TEXAS!

We must also throw into the equation that ol'Bevo, I mean Belo, doesn't do anything in the way of positive stories to promote the hometown team either.

I think we can all say that "everyone" has a little responsibility here, not just the SMU crowd.

the 3-4,000 SMU fans that left early in a game that CLEARLY was not over are pathetic. NTSU fans really embarrassed SMU's fans tonite. NTSU was loud and proud-got to give them some credit.
