IDIOTS.....

Postby superstangfan » Sun Sep 09, 2007 10:11 pm

I've been reading many of your posts regarding last nights game and I've come to the conclusion that most ( I did say most) of you are idiots and don't know [deleted] about football. I see why PB has said he's forgotten more football than any of you would ever know. With that said I will brief you on why most of you guys are idiots.....

1. WE DID WIN LAST NIGHT!!!!

2. SMU has the same corners they had last year. The difference is the new and inexperienced d-line. (We did lose 3 starters to graduation) It doesn't matter who is covering if the QB can scan the field for more than 20 sec than he's going to find someone open, a nfl CB can't cover that long!!!!! (The line should get better and therefore coverage will get better)

3. The defense has basically been gutted from a year ago, Strong safety, Linebackers, entire interior d-line gone. (starting free safety injured 2 weeks before opening game) You cannot lose so many players and expect to have a top notch defense right off the bat. THEY SHOULD GET BETTER.

4. The corners play off the recievers because that's what their COACH has told them to do. You got a problem with why they don't play man up "D" or why they give 5 yards cushion then TALK TO THE COACH...

5. UNT ran 84 (I repeat 84) plays against the defense. BTW Tech ran 85 plays. Anyway, the average per game should be around 55 plays. The defense is on the field wayyyyyy too long and this is not totally the defense's fault.

6. If the boys are not making defensive adjustments during the game it's because the COACHES aren't making the adjustments.

FINALLY, in case you didn't notice it, even though the defense played soooo poorly and gave up soooooo many yards..... They did win the game in the fourth quarter. After Willis' interception Lindley intercepted in the end zone; After Martin's fumble with 3 min remaining McCann intercepts which leads to SMU TD and then Hudman put the final touches on win with interception return for TD.

thanks for reminding (most of) us we are IDIOTS as you said, idiots for believing in this team year in and year out...

and everyone knows what you just said...

a win is a win, ugly or not...yes you cant blame the D entirely but i dont remember hearing the D make many three and outs yesterday either...

and its NEVER good giving up 600 in the air, even if we do have the same DBs like you said.

One deep punt and one interception and a very poor, undermanned NTU team would have beaten us. As it was a very poor, undermanned NTU dominated the clock and set new passing records against us. Enough Said!

Seems to me that you're in complete agreement with almost everyone else on this board about one thing: it's all about coaching.

But, we beat UNT in a football game, which is EVERY ASPECT of the game.

Passing, rushing, special teams! And even blocking and tackling when NEEDED!

thanks for the brief, superstangfan. We'll take it under advisement. Personally, if there are an additional 10-12,000 idiots in the greater Dallas or hell north and east Texas area who have some spare time on a few Saturdays during the fall, I hope they come on out to Ford and join us all.

Now, regarding your arguments about what makes some people come across as idiots...I don't really see that the points you make are particularly unique. Pretty much everyone on the board has bitched about the D-line, has lamented the loss of Rock Dennis, has bitched about the apparent coaching shortcomings, and has talked about the short workweek and number of plays ran by Tech and UNT, pushing the edge of the conditioning of our guys. Oh, and I also believe a large number of folks have acknowledged the 'w.'...I'm not sure where simply restating what the majority of posters have previously stated warrants entitling your first post "IDIOTS." But I digress...I'm a first amendment guy anyway.

Welcome aboard!

WE BEAT THEM IN THE PASSING GAME??? I know willis set a career record for passing yards but i guess i misread, did he throw for over 600 yards bigdaddy?

we didnt win EVERY ASPECT of the (whole) game but WE WON 4 quarters worth of football, which is all that really matters...we still havent played a complete game, we got "lucky" in a shootout...and our Secondary should prepare for the worse for the rest of the year...this game doesnt really do much for us but show what our true weakness of the team is...PASS DEFENSE

Unless a team has no QB and runs a wishbone or option offense, expect every team to pass, pass and pass again for the rest of the season. Remember it was a short week last week to prepare for UNT and we didn't really see much of their offense against OU (since OU was on the field most of the game). I suspect that two weeks of dealing with pass and gun offenses gave the coaches some idea of where the work needs to be put this week and where we need to make some adjustments and changes. We beat a motivated team, on a short work week, in a shootout. Our offense performed well against an inferior defensive opponent after performing poorly last week. I suspect that UNT is near last in scoring defense.

Welcome aboard noob.

Do you have any inside knowledge backing up this claim? The reason I ask is that I was told almost the exact opposite after the Tech game... Specifically, that the corners were told to play tighter, but were (presumably) intimidated so they kept backing up. And while UNT shouldn't inspire the same shock and awe as the Tech offensive juggernaught, it looks like our DBs were playing them the same way.

And while I understand and acknowledge your point about the young D-line and a lack of pressure, most of Tech's and a lot of UNT's throws were the quick dink and dunk stuff that's hard to stop if you let the receivers get off the line of scrimmage uncontested.

Bump and run BD's stop Dink and Dump passes.

And NO d-line can get push in 1.4 seconds.
