Through 2 weeks the entire conference has 1 win...and that came against a sun belt team.

It's ShunnedBelt, because that's where you end up when SMU blackballs you.

As everyone knows, that could very well change this weekend.

I would rather wait until after Saturday's game before I start pounding my chest like Tarzan.

Why wait...I didn't say Arkie State was the most inept...just that their conference is.

Well, SMU never blackballed ASU as far as I know, so they are exempt from this particular bit of ShunnedBelt wrath.

Don't kid yourselves. Some of the CUSA east teams are doing some good things, but the west looks like a pretty weak group once again. We are not much better than the teams in the SunBelt. Did you miss MTSU scaring Louisville? Are you paying attention to Troy? Did the fact that ASU played Texas a closer game than TCU mean anything to anyone? What about UL-Laffy playing South Carolina close? They may not be winning those games, but they look every bit as good as a lot of CUSA west schools do - especially SMU & Rice

Even though we beat UNT, I was impressed by the following they had at the game - a good showing of green. Quite frankly, with their new facilities and new head coach, if we don't show significant improvement and do it SOON, they are going to run right past us in the world of college football. When was the last time SMU's "fans" made a showing like that - on the road? I hope we keep playing TCU and UNT every year (alternate home and home series so we always get one of them at Ford and visit the other) - and then I just hope we can get/remain competitive with both of these schools

This was hardly a road game for the UNT alums as most of them live in Dallas...not Denton. Sure, the students who don't commute from Dallas had to make the 45 minute trip, but I would venture a guess that 85% of the mean green fans at the game live in the Dallas area and had no farther to go than a lot of the SMU fans. As to SMU's showing on the road...yeah we have a ways to go there to be meaningful.

I wouldn't call C-USA West equivalent to the Sun Belt. Houston played Oregon pretty close, UTEP played both Tech and UNM well. Tulsa spanked ULM. Of course Tulane has only played MSU and Rice should be demoted from the FBS for losing to Nicholls State. We all know where SMU stands.

The Sun Belt also sports a 59-0 loss by FIU to Penn State, a 79-10 shellacking of UNT by OU, a 46-26 loss by Troy to Arkansas, a 49-26 loss by ULM to Clemson, a 59-31 loss by Troy to Florida, and a 42-6 loss by FAU to Oklahoma State.

Now don't get me wrong, those are better opponents than what C-USA played, but those teams were taken out behind the woodshed and whooped so hard they couldn't sit down for a week.

The strongest contingent of SMU fans, in recent times, I have seen at a road game would have to be the Rice game last fall. Given our smaller alumni base to draw from I think we did very well for that game attendance-wise.

I know I have asked this many times, has any Rice fan found my SMU hat I threw on the field when we did not convert the 1st and goal?

Last season Houston lost at home to UL Lafayette who finished 5th in the Sun Belt.

Umm... whoopie. That was single-handedly the worst game UH played all season, but if you want to tout that as a banner win go right ahead.

If we're looking for 'banner wins' over CUSA, I think last year would be the Troy over Rice 41-17.
