So it was reported that the team will stay in Memphis,TN tonight and drive to the stadium 70 miles. The reason: there is no full-service hotel available in Jonesboro. How full-service are we talking about?

Back way back when, a facility would need the ability to feed a team (a very large kitchen). Meeting rooms (several for defense, offense, positions, etc.). I don't know Jonesboro's accommodations, but it is possible that the facilities there are not sufficient to meet a team's needs. The Inns there may not have capacity to feed or to accommodate with adequate meeting rooms.

Probably any hotel that has a limited number of exits to monitor as opposed to a motel 6 with every room door opening to the outside. You have to keep those kids under lock and key until after the game. Plus, it would be nice if the place they stay at has a dinning room or conference room they can eat in together and have team meetings in that can hold the whole team.

Holiday Inn offers free continental breakfast. That could be a plus for our budget.

Don't think it was a good idea to tell the world that the reason for staying in Memphis. Talk about p*ssin' ASU folks off - and contributing to our ritzy reputation.

Hell, just say you got a good deal in Memphis.

I remeber a full service motel on Greenville in Dallas when I went to SMU. It rented by the hour.

I didn't tell the world, the DMN did.

That motel is still there. They actually rent by the quarter hour now. Pick me ups are 4 bucks at the front desk.

Doesn't offend me. The Holiday Inn is the only hotel in town that I'm aware of has meeting rooms and full banquet capable kitchen. Most everything has gone to the Hampton Inn, HI Express type facility. I believe Coach Roberts takes our team out there the night before a game to keep the players from enjoying Friday night too much so they probably wouldn't have SMU out there as well.

Obviously SMU is flying in or you would be staying in Little Rock. We tend to bus to the metroplex because its a pain to load up drive an hour to Memphis unload then board a plane, get off and load up another bus. The time savings just isn't that dramatic vs. the cost.
