Marketing, Branding, and Placement 101

Postby RGV Pony » Sat Sep 15, 2007 9:33 pm

Not long ago, I visited with a VP of a very successful company who was had been contacted to interview for CEO of another, 'up and coming' company. The up and coming company had an innovative product, mission, and vision.

His biggest concern and most important point he wanted to stress was that the main product which was the push of the upcoming campaign absolutely had to deliver...had to do what it said it was supposed to do, and the organization had to exceed expecations...or the branding, push, and placement would never work, no matter how much $$ or how good it was.

Well? ""Best SMU team in 20 years" "Pony Up" 750k in marketing the 1st two weeks. Mark Folowill & Brad Sham & Ch 21 paid to carry some games. Bowl game or bust. And the current state of our 'product' is...?

Well 1 man can only do his own job. I wanted to make sure and complement anybody who had anything to do with that broadcast because it was first class all the way. That's not easy to do when this is a entirely new operation. Very well done A+

no doubt about it. GREAT work on ch 21. The most impressive thing SMU-related I have seen in a long, long time whose last name doesn't start with Doh.

Just because it appears the man with the headset on is going down in flames shouldn't distract from the fact that both the weekly coache's show and the production and quality of this game has been superb. The Athletic Department has clearly held up its end of the bargain on this.

I was skeptical, but the broadcast was outstanding with one exception...no play clock. Really, what else about the production can you complain about? Besides the game itself, I mean.

yes they have done a great job with the coach show and the production of the football game.....unfortunately, it looks like more money thrown down the drain........

I will be interested to see how things go next year. I was most impressed/pleased this year by getting 9 games on TV. Was that a result of everyone's high expectations for this team, or as a result of marketing and gladhanding by the athletic department? I guess next year will tell.

Actually...their stadium looked about as 'half-full' (half-empty) as Ford Stadium does on gameday.
