Diamonds in the rough and the Bennett defense

Okay, we all know that Bennett has hit on some diamonds in the rough. But let's checkout our starting defense:

Great recruit = offered by multiple BCS programs
Good recruit = offered by at least 1 BCS program or highly regarded by rivals
Average recruit = offered by CUSA level schools
Poor recruit = offered by nobody but SMU.

Muse - great
McCann - good
Leonard - average
Handy - average
Lindley - average
Parham - poor
McCray - poor
Bonilla - walkon, poor
Hawkins - poor
Haynes - poor
Hudman - poor

I know Bennett is supposed to be a good talent evaluator and all that stuff, and certainly McCray is a good player. But based on that list, is there any reason why we should expect our defense to be anything but "poor"?
