For what it's worth...

Far be it from me to call last night anything close to successful, but there were a few things that looked positive:

1. Justin Willis played his heart out. He ran for his life a few times, but the guy threw four more touchdowns. What did he have last year against ASU? Four? Five? If he could only play them -- and they have a very good secondary -- every week... Adding 88 yards rushing (more than 100, when you take out the sacks) -- he was a stud last night.

2. We all know what it means about the front seven when a safety goes crazy with tackles, but Bryce Hudman had 26 TACKLES! He got beat on that last touchdown pass, probably because his legs were about to fall off. Overall, he did well. The guy was everywhere.

3. Emmanuel Sanders is an unbelievable athlete. That long zig-zag play for 50-something was amazing. Probably ran 200 yards on that play, or close to it.

4. Zach Sledge's touchdown catch was sensational. Eerily reminiscent of the Dwight Clark catch a few decades ago (for those who are old and gray...)

5. Bryan McCann had a rough time of it on a few plays, but chasing down the WR on that early slant that almost went for a TD showed some real heart, and he had a nice, one-handed tackle in the second half where it looked like he might tear the guy's pads off.

I'm sure there were other positives, but I didn't see them. My seat wasn't that great.

See you in Fort Worth -- SHOCK THE FROGS!

All fair points; however, other than those few bright spots we looked like crap. The list of negatives is much longer than the positives. And just because we can score doesn't give me much comfort because we can't stop anybody. We are giving up some much more yardage than we are gaining. You're looking pretty hard to find these positives in this morass of crap known as SMU football!

He does have a lot of potential and much more athletic ability than Sturdivant. I can't wait to see him his senior year.

He won't last that long, if he has to make 26 tackles a game.
