This entered my mind when mentioned on ESPN radio earlier today. Remember JoePa's gimme national title way back when. Well, how nice would it be this year if you have
1. USC 12-0
2. LSU 12-0
3. Penn St 12-0.
Ain't that a [deleted], Joe Pa! You were given your first nat'l title, now it's time to pay up. Have fun in Pasadena. USC & LSU, we'll see ya'll on Bourbon St.

I like where you're going with this...but Penn St won the NC in 1986. They beat Miami in the Fiesta Bowl.

Exactly - Testaverde and the 'Canes beat Miami, not a wildly unimpressive Penn State team.

actually, LSU would have to be 13-0 (SEC Championship game)

Still, I think after Jo Pa got his pity NC in 1982, he deserves to sit out this one even if he goes undefeated. And quite frankly the Big Ten is looking really puny this year. Michigan, Minnesota, Iowa, Indiana, Illinois, Purdue and Northwestern, look pretty bad. And even Ohio State and Wisconsin have looked mediocre by their standards. Both the SEC and PAC 10 are stronger top to bottom. And USC is playing a pretty tough schedule with a road game at Nebraska. The Big XII is wide open this year. Iowa State is improved in the North along with Nebraska and Mizzou. Kansas, KSU, and Colorado not so good. In the south, other than OU everyone else looks mortal. UT, A&M, Baylor, OSU are not having good years. And TT always seems to stub its toe every year. The only other team that might deserve a look would be West Virginia. If they run the BE table against Louisville, Pitt and Rutgers added to wins over Maryland and perhaps ECU, and they have more credibility than PSU.

Funny OU is not included in that group somewhere!

That's what i was thinking too.. after debating all night with a bunch of drunk OU fans here is my thoughts on who MIGHT upset OU, if not they will be in the NC:
10/13/07 vs. Missouri
11/17/07 at Texas Tech
the only two teams who can come close to OU in scoring. we saw Paul Smith last night throw for over 300 yards on all of their 5 star recruits so there is no reason that TT and Missouri couldn't put up big numbers. the only problem is that both teams have terrible D's, and Missouri has to play at OU. I really like TT since OU has to play out in that [deleted] hole of a town, and I believe Texas was ranked #4 in the nation when they lost at Tech (the game where Wes Welker threw the double pass for a TD)...
