What has happened to the local media?

There are actual articles about SMU, TCU and UNT in the local papers.
SMU has even had front page pictures and stories.
There are college football reports about SMU and TCU on the 10:00 o'clock news.
Last night even Babe Laufenburg talked about TCU and SMU.
Have these people lost their minds.
This can not continue in the local UT, TT and aTm market.
This is insane!! I love it. And thanks to the local media.

I really don't think there has been significant increases in media coverage. Maybe you are just looking for it. I do think though that local news media outlets in the future have to carve a niche in the new internet age. Instead of providing the same information as the national media newspaper and internet sites I think they will eventually try to differentiate their product by focusing on local news of interest that can't be found elsewhere. Local high school sports, college sports etc provide a a way to reach the local fan that national media can not. Maybe that is a factor in what you are seeing. Example does WFAA just regurgitate exactly what ESPN does on Sunday Nite NFL Highlites or do they distinguish their product with sports news of more local interest. I see some of the local independent stations cutting into this local market with interesting local sports news.

Exactly.
Too bad it's taken them so long to see this. They've been "USA Today Ya'll" for a long time.
