Darth's dark vision appears to becoming a reality. Before the season, Darth and his compadres and compadrettes were discussing the 2007 season. Some said 8-4 (the Kool-Aid drinkers), others said 7-5. While the dark side forces predicted 4-8 (the really bitter ones) or 5-7. Either scenario would be good. A winning season would be a step in the right direction. (Darth would have to eat crow, but he has done so many times; in fact, Darth would be happy to eat crow). If we have a losing season then most (except for the most addicted sunshiners), would agree that a fresh start would be needed. Hopefully, a new coach would bring us to the promised land.

Darth armed with the knowledge that whatever the worse thing that could happen to SMU football will happen as SMU has had no luck the last 20 years, stated that none of that would happen. What would happen is that SMU would go 6-6, play Troy State in the New Orleans Bowl and lose. This would make us 6-7. The Kool-aid drinkers would make PB, "Coach Dada for Life." The dark side folks would have wailing and nashing of teeth knowing that we had a worse winnng percentage than last year and that PB would not be the one to take us to top 25 status.

The sectarian violence on this board would be one for the record books. One way or the other it has got to be decisive. If limbo land keeps going on, the goldfish bowl will just get smaller and smaller.

Before you pro-PB folks unleash your barrage on me. Please note that Darth will be at the games to support the team and that you can count on one hand the number of times he has missed a home game in the last 20 years.

I have already said here that I think if we go 6-6, and get rolled in our bowl game by a sunbelt team Orsini will pull the plug. His comments to the public, his demeanor when I have spoke to him, and my perception on how he operates makes me think this. However, I know most everyone feels like if we make a bowl, regardless of outcome, Bennett comes back. I say he needs 7 wins or our bowl loss better be to someone with some serious name recognition (ie not Arkansas State).

I don't think a toilet bowl and a win will save PB's job. A solid win over a good team (however that may happen) maybe would.
