Would this guy be a "fit" as SMU Head Football Coach?

If SMU does not win 6 games this year and/or go to a bowl game.....
Would this guy have any interest if SMU/Orsini approached him?
Would SMU have any interest in him or is he "washed up"
after being fired in San Fran and Detroit?
I think he has been out of football now for two seasons.
Steve Mariucci

If SMU was on the west coast, great. How would he recruit Texas? Maybe keep the Bennett bros. as coordinators?

re: "How would he recruit Texas?"
Granted SMU is not Florida, but Urban Myer
is not from Florida and as far as I know had never
coached/played/or had any experience in the South or the SEC.
Are you saying we must hire only a guy with experience in the Texas area?
By the way I am not supporting Steve Mariucci, I am
just throwing his name out for discussion.

I thought you were on the Terry Bowden bandwagon?

If Coach Phil does not win six games or get SMU
to a bowl game, then I am hopeful Orsini can pull off a
"Matt Doherty" type hire for our football team.
Lets just say I am happy Orsini will be making
this call instead of Copeland.

What's wrong with San Diego?

If Mooch had wanted a college job, he'd have taken the Michigan State job when he'd had the chance. That way, he could have worked with his buddy Izzo.

Seems to me a good pick, no harm in asking. SMU does not have to just recruit in Texas. I'm sure there are a lot of kids that would love to play for a big time coach.
