Fast forwarding thru DVR recording of the game after talking to some of you who were there to see what happened at end of the first half. Didn't realize we were up 28 to 7 with less than 3 minutes left in first half. Inexcusable to blow that lead at home !!

1:15 remaining and it is 3rd and 7 and UTEP completes about a 40 yard past to Joe West to about our 10. CSTV announcers say "David Haynes made NO EFFORT to go get the ball even though standing there, just lethargic about going over to get the ball" Then the color guy Jones says "at least make an attempt, look like you are trying to get over there"

Coaching has to be a part of this. Bad enough they converted a 3rd and long, worse if our kids aren't trying or don't know where to go.

As far as end of the half, Bennett is asked what do you have to do on defense for second half and he says "we just need to tackle better" Game #5 and we still don't know how to tackle ??

I am beginning to think you let him go now if you do have someone lined up b/c the rest of the season is gone and I don't know how you recruit at all if they know he is not going to be here. Recruiting is the key and whatever is done we need to think about what hurts that the least and helps that the most.

It kinda looks like to me that the kids on defense have given up on Ponksatony Phil.

its way past time to give Bailey at least some playing time. We are 1-4 and mistakes at Safety are really hurting us. We've wasted his redshirt-give him a shot. Really we have nothing to lose anymore. If we soldify that spot in particular I see us getting a little better.

I don't like to single out players, but one play near the end of the first half was just mind boggling. one of our guys just looked like he made no effort on the ball on a 35 yard pass down to our 10 at the southwest corner. Then this same guy got absolutely trucked by their qb on a 25 yard touchdown run.

In terms of the pass defense, on anything over 25 yards just tell the corners and safetys to level somebody and take the pass interference. At least then its only 15 yards in college. We continually failed to challenge receivers on long passes and then just drag them to the ground. I'd rather take a bunch of aggressive 15 yard penalites than this passive coverage we see.

I wasn't trying to get on the player either, I think it is a function of either they arent' sure what to do, have not been coached what to do, or we have them in the wrong positions / asking them to do more than they are capable of doing because we can't properly evaluate the players and their strengths (i.e. -- can't figure out a way to use Martin)

I like to drink Bailey's, but it can give you quite a hangover if you drink too much, too fast!
