that was ridiculous, there might have been 40 students there after half. we had more show up when we had to bus it down to the Cotton Bowl. I guess the game interfered with all those 6:00 PM parties.

After the performances we've all seen the last 6 years I would question why anyone would go and sit through one heart breaking loss after another. I knew this year would be just like the last 3 or 4 and after the Arkansas State loss I refuse to pay money to go and see other teams celebrate on our field.

not saying it was good, but i think many moved over to the westside along with a bunch of utep fans to get out of the heat. plus it was parents weekend and many probably went out for dinner with the parents. Same as it ever was. Same as it ever was.

Fewer students than a freshman Calc class. Can the frats and sororities not require attendance? I know it sucks to single them out, but isnt there something about school loyalty and what not involved with those organizations?
The only group of students that seem to care is the band...and some have even made fun of them.

I have often wondered why they don't offer prizes to the frats/sororities on a weekly basis and something like a final year-end fully paid for party with a big time band for the group with the best attendance that stays to the end of the game. Just an idea that might give them an insentive to show up and stay.

im a student that was there today in the student section. ive rarely missed a home game in three years and i gotta say after today, i will not be in ford stadium one more time this year until i see changes. say whatever the [deleted] u wanna say about poor student showings, we have lives that at this point in time are more valuable then smu football games. we have no defense, play calling is atrocious, unwatchable tackling. i laughed out loud today about thirty times

You could easily substitute "coaching" for "student section", or possibly "tackling".
Everything about SMU football is beyond pathetic. Why should the student attendance be any different?

Exactly. And several of those parents in my section were actually very good fans. Knowledgeable about football, standing at the right times, vocal, and stayed until the end.
Of course, that means they were just as disgusted as the rest of us. A big win could led to them attending more games. A day like yesterday and...

The worst part about the student section was the 4 guys who started yelling "strippers" because they were too drunk to figure out that UTEP's coach actually was messing around with prostitutes or whatever the hell happened. They were really [deleted] me off, especially when they said that we, the student section, sucked because we would not chant strippers (although, by the 4th quarter, the student section was pretty weak). I'm pretty upset about it considering I'm now hoarse today due to all the yelling i did trying to get us to be louder, and all I can say(whisper) for it is "oh well maybe next time." ....again
