or is 6-1 a must down the stretch. Either scenario will be tough, but 3 winnable games in Tul, Rice & Mem and 4 tough ones in USM, TU, UH & UCF.
Basically he needs to either pull off two or three upsets and win all of the winnables.
The other question is if he losses 3 more before the end of the season do you cut your losses at that point and make it official or do you hang on and risk completely losing a year of recruiting. I think you make the decision at loss 3.

I am sure 5-2 would save his job since that would make us Bowl Eligible....but this team going 5-2 is not going to happen.....
The sad thing is, I think that UTEP was our best chance to a win a game....they had 5 starters out on Defense and we were able to score a ton of points....we won't face a defense that pourous the rest of the season probably.....and still 45 points wasn't enough to win....
0-7 is probably the safe bet here and we end up 1-11 for the year....Tulsa, Rice, and Memphis have had some moments this year, certainly more than we have...on paper the games could be winnable, but I seriously doubt this team will win another game.
Tulane just played the #2 team in the nation to within 1 point for a half....Memphis was up 31-6 at Ark. St......sure they blew it...but they gave them more of a game than we did....Even Rice hung with Tech for a half......
1-11....2-10 at best......we all need to prepare ourselves for it....

5-2 would probably cut it if we scored a bowl game. Expect Orsini to announce the decision after the 7th loss.
It's a crappy job but someone's gotta do it.

If Phil is back with a 6-6 record, then Orsini is not as intellignet as I think that he is.

at this point even talking about winnable games is ridiculous-
Bennett has one more shot at a win and its with Rice

Bennett is done no matter how how we finish. Even if we were to run the table, PB is out the door

Looks like SMU is dropping down to Div. 1 FCS (formerly Div. 1-AA)!!!!!

If you don't think we will lose at least 3 or 4 more games you are fooling yourself.
Southern Miss is going to be a very ugly situation to start.

Bottom line is: there will be a new head football coach at SMU next season and, yes, that has already been decided by the deciders.

The fact of the matter is that with Bennett, even "winnable" games are iffy, b/c he is worth 3 losses a season just on game day decisions. He is a great guy, but he just can't coach 'em up.
