The Longhorn Economy

Very good article in today's Austin American Statesman ; UT's spending has doubled since 2000; the athletic department does not want to donate revenue to the University; its excessive spending is causing higher costs for other schools; revenue really increased after destroying the SWC; etc, etc.

Besides disbanding the BCS, the best thing that can happen to college athletics is for colleges to follow the sucessful Vanderbilt model.

BRING BACK THE GLORY DAYS OF SMU FOOTBALL!!!

For some strange reason, one of the few universities that REFUSE to use their school colors: Harvard Crimson & Yale Blue.

No thanks — Vanderbilt disbanded its men's soccer team (although Vandy's head coach, Tim McClements returned to SMU as Coach Hyndman's top assistant, so maybe it's not an entirely bad thing...)

But yes, busting up the B(C)S would be a cause for a national holiday.
