The same way Graham Harrell threw for 650 yards against the Pokes and still lost.

if you watch the CSTV broadcast it is clear our players are in the wrong places, take the wrong angles, and then don't tackle. both CSTV announcers repeatedly said how bad the tackling was, and Brian Jones said it was the worse he had seen in years and there were missed tackles 80 to 85 percent of the time. Now those guys obviously aren't always right but the tape/film does not lie.
I mentioned in another post earlier the 40 yard pass on 3rd and 7 with a minute left in the first half that helped UTEP finally score and make it 28-14 instead of 28-7 at half. If you watch the play our corner or safety is in no man's land and doesn't know who he is to cover, and then doesn't make a play for the ball --- that should not happen in game # 5.
That is coaching. We should know how to cover simple go routes by game # 5. That's how you give up 42 to 48 points and lose.
its called defense. or lack of defense. or whatever you call the 11 players running around like chickens with their heads cut off.
.............Hey, like Coach Mack Brown of UT said yesterday, "Players don't loose football games, Coaches that don't have their players prepared to play do. " Yesterday that was certainly the case in our game and his too....Of course we have been out coached all year to this point. UTEP, who had a lot of injuries going into this game, never lost their will to win and that is a credit to Coach Price.

I still don't understand why we're wasting redshits for Bailey and Bell to play special teams when both came in as highly touted DB's? Bailey was supposedly a national top 150 recruit and I know Bell can tackle, he's proven that on special teams, and I can't see how he can be worse in coverage than anyone else out there.

to answer the original question, we just had to give up 46 or more points to lose the game. mission accomplished.

Do we get a better draft choice for losing?
