Babby Boomers Last Chance
Posted: Tue Oct 02, 2007 10:08 amFor those of us who graduated in the 60's and have seen the program go from SWC Champs in 1966, Beating OU in the Astro Bluebonnett Bowl in 1968, to the Pony Express and #2 in 1981, and now for 20 years suffering thru the Pye penalty, the coming hiring of a new coach is the last chance for our era to see SMU football once again become relevant on the national stage.
It has been a tragic experience for those of us who have been to the mountain top to then see us self destruct. South Florida just started playing Div.1 football 10 years ago and they have been able to build a top ten program from scratch in half the time we have been floundering in the ditch under the Pye penalty.
For those of my era who have stuck with this program with no positive results for 20 years, this is it boys. It is now or never for us.
