LSU not unanimous No. 1?

Postby George S. Patton » Sun Oct 07, 2007 4:43 pm

The Tigers are in the AP poll. They have all but two votes in the USA Today poll. Those two went to Ohio State. Those two voters should have their voting privileges stripped.

But the look at the top 5 is amazing with the likes of Cal, Boston College and South Florida. Really shows how much balanced BCS college football is becoming.

well at the rate the season is going, no ranking is safe. once conference play really heats up in October/November, teams like Cal, BC, USF, OU, LSU, etc. will be tested and probably lose at least once.

Despite what the results say, USC, Oklahoma and Florida -- at the very least -- are better than all of the teams in the top 5 except LSU .... and I'm not sure any of those teams couldn't beat LSU (I know -- LSU just beat Florida. Play that game again, and I'm not convinced there would be a repeat.)

Talent-wise, despite that absolute trainwreck that occurred Saturday, USC is still the most impressive team I've seen. They just played like absolute crap Saturday.

As good as LSU is, they will be hard pressed to go undefeated in the SEC. That said I expect to see them playing in the championship, and I don't know that it'll matter to terribly much who they play. The have a devestating combination of great defense and strong offense
Those who complain about a problem are simply wasting time they could use to fix it.

USC maybe an impressive team that played very poorly yesterday, but the difference between a really good team and a championship team is the ability to win close games, even when the team is not playing their best. Just look at LSU's come from behind win yesterday against Florida.
I think USC finishes with the season with two losses.

Who else do you see USC losing to? If ever there was a reality check/wakeup call, you've got to believe that was it, right?

My guess: USC and LSU play for it all in January.

They have to go Cal. And they have to go Arizona State, I believe.

No gimmes there.

It's about that time for a playoff....this yr is going to really motivate the schools that havent wanted one to think about it when they see a USF v BC Champioship, or something similar.

And bet too much on LSU coming out undefeated...

They play Cal, Oregon and ASU on the road. Ucla comes to the Coliseum this year, although the bruins are sans QB at the moment.

Talk about fundamentals. They couldn't tackle and couldn't run the ball.....against stanford. First lost at the Coliseum since 2001 (ironically also against Stanford).
GO MUSTANGS!

FIGHT ON!

can you imagine if usf survives the tests of rutgers and louisville and make it to 12-0? a national championship of LSU-USF would be a nightmare for FOX

Especially since it would be almost as lopsided as when USC took OU to the woodshed a few years ago.

yea, i still think auburn should have been in that game. its stupid that a 13-0 SEC team didnt make the national championship and a 12-1 OU team did...
