Interesting Terry Bowden quote...OK it's from August but interesting nevertheless.
http://www.baltimoresun.com/sports/college/bal-sp.boise19aug19,0,3913923.story?track=rss
Former Auburn coach Terry Bowden, now working as a broadcaster and analyst for Sirius Satellite Radio and Yahoo! Sports, said it's not just the WAC schools who'll want to be like Boise State.
"If I'm at SMU or some other non-BCS school, I'm thinking, 'If Boise can do it, we can do it,'" he said. "We are about to the point where, no it's not easy but it's not a pipe dream to say, 'You can go to a BCS bowl. You can attain national prominence.'"

pure speculation, but the quote and its timing make me wonder if the reason Bennett got another year is because Terry wasn't ready to move back in to coaching last December.
The donkey's name is Kiki.
On a side note, anybody need a patent attorney?

I'll let him change our turf red and call it the Blood Rug (ala Smurf Turf) if we could even sniff what Boise has done over the last decade.

I've always said we need white turf with blue lines and a giant red pony ala previous Moody floor across the whole field.

So...you're saying we're all being made to suffer thru this season because Bowden wasn't ready to return to college coaching?
Oh, the pain. The pain.

Seems a little quircky that he is being associated with SMU to the extent has recently. Maybe there is something in the cards.

One other thought on this. There are a hundred Boise States out there. There are a hundred coaches wanting to do what Boise St. did. There is only one program that had national prominence and was dealt the death penalty, one. To resurrect SMU would be a huge feather in any coaches hat.

Someone mention, Chris Peterson? He only makes around a half a mill.

Of all the 40 or so non-BCS schools to mention, why SMU? Sure would have been nice to see any other questions and answers given by Bowden for this article for complete context of this quote.
Putting on my tin foil hat now:
Gentlemen's agreement between Orsini and Bowden?

Not a coincidence (in my mind) that he mentions SMU out of every school he could've named. He must've been contacted by Orsini about a job opening up next year if we didn't make a bowl...
This would be an unbelievable hire, and would re-energize the program!

I think SMU must've had a second AD behind the grassy knoll.
