Older news then the old testament. Not a valid excuse anymore for anything.

I met this guy after the Tech Game, I didn't think he'd take this long getting the story out.

The Death Penalty was not a myth, unless my attendance at the soccer homecoming game was just my mistake.

The myth is that the Death Penalty is what we've never recovered from. When in fact it was a mixture of a bunch of things that has placed us where we are including: Restrictions on recruiting, restrictions on transfers, abolition of the PE major, break-up of the SWC, break-up of the WAC-16, etc. While the DP was the root cause of all of these things, had we not overreacted, we could have recovered from the DP by now.

Well its kind of hard to compare that when no other school has gotten the death penatly but us.

What East Stang said.
SMU's self-punishment was as bad as anything the NCAA dealt out in hindering our return.

Our punishment on ourselves was much worse - starting with the extra year we piled on without need. Typical "sky is falling" academia.

Gregg was pretty much right. We played in the Cotton Bowl within a decade. Too bad it was only for home games.
