fan who has anything positive to say about Bowden. Sleezy, shady, slick, distracted, "show biz", arrogant, NOT his Dad, NOT even the best Bowden son (coach-wise, that is..)..sounds like a potential quasi Ron Meyer..maybe what this program needs?

Name something positive they say about Tuberville - We could be getting him when he gets fired.

I believe the story is that he had an affair with Bobby Lowder's daughter. Lowder is probably one of the most influential Boosters in the country. Not only is the man worth like 21 billion but he also sits on the University's Board of Trustees. Basically, he can hire and fire who he wants as he was the man who got Bowden hired and also the man that got him fired.

don't worry he wont end up here. despite our desperation, probably not a real good fit for smu, and he will probably conclude that himself in the end. Coaches dont seem to really know the challenges they will face at smu academically and every other way until they really take a closer look. and before you point to doherty, football is still a different animal at smu and the systemic issues are much harder for a football coach to overcome. Papa bowden will tell terry he is crazy to consider this job, guaranteed.

We could do worse than a coach like Ron Meyer. At least he could recruit and provided some of the most entertaining years SMU football has ever seen. If Bowden is like Meyer, I would view that as a plus. As far as those nasty NCAA violations are concerned, that is as much the boosters problems as Meyer's problems. Most coaches over time have taken a Sgt. Shultz approach to that and Meyer was no different. I can hear it now, "They were getting paid?, I'm shocked."
