Over the last 4 years of SMU recruiting, many defensive DT,DE, and LB's have committed to play, but I've haven't seen them play a major role this year. Players missing in action are Kyle Griffin, Dominic Pryor, Lucky Delay, Avery Cleveland, and Brandon Banks. Only 2, C. Muse and C Berry have made an impact. This is just from the 2004 recruits and the pattern is consistently the same for 2005 and 2006. How can you field a competitive team or program, when there is no reaping of benefits from recruiting classes year after year. Thats why we have freshman and walkons starting on defense and why no defensive leadership is present on the field.

Kyle Griffin's career was cut short with a back injury.
Dominic Pryor moved to offensive line and then graduated.
Lucky DeLay is playing right tackle, and got some playing time in the last couple of weeks.
Avery Cleveland dropped out of school.
Who's Brandon Banks?

I believe you're thinking of Jay'Mond the WR from SE Texas, not Avery the LB from Austin.
