A lesson to learn by SMU?
Didn't take long to pull the plug. Either you perform and do your job or take a hike.

Wonder if Orsini will get a chance to apply for this job?

Please people. Orsini is not the problem. At least right now he's not. Steve needs time to unravel all the crap Copeland left him. You should pray that Steve stays with us a very long time.

Wasn't saying that Orsini is the problem......but how could a non BCS school like SMU keep it's AD if a school like Nebraska offered the job? It is too bad that SMU did not take the Nebraska approach with Copeland as his hires in both football and basketball did not help those programs at all................

Nebraska wanted Houston Nutt last time. I wonder if they would want him again if they decide to can Callahan also? It certainly looks like Nutt will be available for someone.

It's a valid point. One I'd rather not think about too much. I know that someone will take Orsini from us at some point. I just hope he gets time to turn things around before that happens.
I'm sure Steve is kicking himself for bringing back Bennett, but given the circumstances I probably would have done the same thing. You had to give Phil one more chance, but that chance is for all practical purposes over now.

They didn't want Nutt. That was Nutt's agent posturing for a contract extension which he got w/n 48 hours.

Well that is possible but any time you are in a plane on the runway in Lincoln there is a chance something is going on.

R. Gerald Turner doesn't have the b*lls to do something like this.

When was the last time anyone at the SMU athletic department made a "Ballsy" move? We need courage!
