Rushing LeaderSomeone on the CUSA board listed the rushing leaders in our conference and Justin Willis is #8. This made me look up our rushing stats and I see that he is our leading rusher this year by 200 yards. Pretty much sums up our problems on offense.
hasnt a qb normally lead us in rushing for most of the season? i know the past couple of years it was actually a RB
It is because the coaching staff is STUPID! Mapps runs for 150+ last week and this week he gets only 8 carries. For some reason that I cannot understand, they refuse to commit to the running game. Most of Willis rushing yards are not on designed runs, they come off of broken plays, and passing plays where he takes off before letting the play develop. The coaches need to realize that our defense is absolutely awful and if they run the ball they keep the defense fresher and shorten the game.
Hey smufan2006 I believe your right, or almost, I believe that Coach Bennett micro manages the plays and overrides his coaches. So he gets most of the blame, and also if justin is the top rusher then the coach should replace him and make him run the plays that are called out. If he leave too early then the fault lies with him and not the coaches. But everyone on this board thinks the sun rises and falls on justin and he can't do any wrong.
Empty barrels make the most noise. Far East Conference
If you watch the games it appears Bennett has next to nothing to do with the offense these days. As mentioned the other day, Rusty Burns didn't even stop to listen to Bennett the other Nite when he was on his headset to the Box. This seems to be pretty common in the games I've seen. I seriously don't think Bennett is micro-managing the offense. I also don't think play-calling as opposed to personnel is the real problem. We are moving the ball-heck if our defense didn't give up 30 First Downs a game and 550 yards a game they could actually get on the field some more.
