Okay a bit of a rant.
Why are smart and Yenga playing DE and not LB?
Why is McCray not at Strong Saftey?
Why not go ahead and Start Bell and Bailey.
If we are playing for the future, this is my starting lineup for the rest of the year.
DT- 99 Serge Elizee 6'1" 300
DT- 56 Ryan Leonard 6" 285
DE- 94 Patrick Handy 6'2" 250
DE- 49 Jordan Johnson 6'3 245
MLB- 48 Youri Yenga 6'2 220
OLB- 40 Justin Smart 6-4 225
OLB- 27 Will Bonilla 5'11 205
SS- 5-Wilton McCray 6" 205/2-De'Von Bailey 6'2" 200
CB- 6- Bryan McCann 6" 175
CB- Darius Bell 5'10 165
FS- 28-Bryce Hudman-6'2" 200

Well, according to Bennett we're still playing for a bowl but I agree, I would love to see Smart at LB, he's too small for DE but he gets to the ball. And I've been ranting about Bell and Bailey playing since the UNT game, but I think Bailey is more suited for CB but I think Bell would be a heck of a Safety, on special teams he's a headhunter.

Love that line-up. Problem is, we don't know if the players understand how to play those positions. You can't teach a player a new position when they have prepared all year at another.
I think our new coach will show us what can be done with our line-ups.
Here's to SMU Football 2008!
(I'm getting tired of looking to the next year)

Are you worried our Defense may get torched?

There is a difference in getting torched and putting our players in position to FAIL...Prepare then execute...Get Bailey, Bell, and Johnson playing time in their present positions, it's too late to get any meaningful experience at a new position...That is what the off-season if for...No sense in demoralizing and injuring players who would not know what they are doing...Did smart play any linebacker in highschool???I don't think Yenga did...

Bailey is 6-2, 200
Bell is 5-10, 165 maybe smaller
Bailey is a Safety -Bell is a CB. That's the way it should be. I'm not sure Smart could play OLB. You have to play pass coverage at OLB. Smart will grow into a pretty big kid and should stay on the defensive line-should have been redshirted though. Yenga never played LB so it would it would take some time to learn a new position. Should have been redshirted. Yenga is a swing size. If he grows to 6-2, 255 or so he could stay at DE but he's not near that size now.

I like the idea of putting McKinney on defense either at end or trying him at Middle Linebacker. He certainly has the size and aggressiveness necessary for either position!

and I thought you would be happy that I significantly beefed up the front 7. Also, on passing downs, I'd actually run a nickle defense!

That was my mistake about Bailey and Bell, I didn't check the roster for their stats, Bell just for some reason looks bigger(?)
I did note they have Bailey listed as a wide receiver also, heck, why not give him some playing time there if your not going to use him at DB? At 6'2, he'd be the tallest receiver other than Chase.
