Game Prediction

Tulane wins. We cannot stop their running game. Tulane has played a tough schedule to date and has competed with BSC teams. SMU, on the other hand, has been embarrssed by Ark. St., T. Tech, and S. Miss. Tulane has much better coaching than SMU. This will become evident Saturday. Bennett was outcoached by UTEP's coach and blew leads of 21 and 14 points at home. I have no confidence in Bennett and his coaching staff and neither do the players. The players have given up on this season and it will show Saturday. If somehow SMU beats Tulane, it will likely be our last win of the season. The truth hurts sometimes but this is the reality for SMU football. We all to some extent drank the Kool-aid Bennett, Orsini, and the team were selling this year.....were going to a bowl game. However, this team is probably the worst team in its conference this year. I feel like I was mislead and lied to....again by the athetlic department and team. You all know the saying...fool me once F. you....fool me twice then F. me.

Way to step out on a limb there.

When was the last time SMU held a team to 13 points or under?

Last year 55-9. Also last year 22-9. And in 2005 we beat TCU 21-10, and Rice 27-7. So it's happened four times in the last two years.

If you are going to make a prediction and include a long narrative give some factual reasons why rather merely a long list of generalities of past performances. Don't say that SMU will lose because it has lost in the past or Bennett sucks or you don't have confidence in Bennett -say SMU will lose because they don't have the defensive personnel to handle one of the Nations best rushers in Matt Forte or SMU will be physically overmatched by their offensive line or Bennett is playing the wrong players at Safety. We know that many on here blame Bennett himself for 85% of the losses in the last 6 years just as many blamed Cavan and Rossley before him. Coaches don't lose every game on the schedule-its really pretty juvenile to always blame SMU's losses on coaching. Otherwise, your opinion is mush-put some meat on it.

I predict Bourbon and Coke on the boulevard. I also predict that I will stay for the entire game.

Now you are thinking. I have ordered large (Big Gulp) vodka tonic for ride from airport to stadium (which will be ready), then expect to slam as many cocktails as possible at tailgate before the kickoff to endure what is to come.
I can not however confirm I will stay to the bitter end if a blow out develops.

Nice going, HockeyGuy. Kind of taking the wind out of his "sky is falling" rant, don't you think? Now he's going to be all depressed.
Besides, I'm far more interested in the NEXT time we hold a team to 13 points or fewer, not the last time.
Let's say it happens this week.
SMU 31, Tulane 10

Forte runs roughshod over our D. The O plays decent but turns the ball over at least four times, and one of my best friends in DC, who walked on Tulane's 1998 undefeated team, scoreboard's me for the rest of the week.
Tulane: 49
SMU: 35

Actually, I have another engagement, so I won't be seeing this clash of titans. Back for homecoming though, I hope. I may be in trial out of town.
