Okay, so I am about to hit google like a man possessed, but was our color commentary guy (alongside the excellent Mark Followill) - who's name was incidentally Chris Sanders - our Chris Sanders???

If so I didn't know he was doing color commentary... and the only reason I ask, is (a) he seemed to be a bit of an SMU fan/homer, and (b) he accidentally called SMU "we" (or seemed to) on a few occasions.

The one that stood out was "I mean WE have a no huddle offense, SMU needs to use it" or somesuch.

Plus if it is our Chris Sanders...... interesting that he would still be a fan of ours... I mean after transferring and all of that jazz. Or, heck, maybe he didn't transfer.... maybe it just felt like he did. Injury? No I think he transferred.

............

Google is my friend.... found a tiny blurb on both the Texas v. Arkie State Game, and the Texas Tech v. Rice game both referencing that the color commentary was to be done by "former SMU quarterback" Chris Sanders.

Cool. Nice to see that that is in fact him. Heck I worked for the football team, and it looked like Chris Sanders. but I just couldn't believe it.

I loved his knickname.... Snax.

Searching "Chris Sanders" and Snax? ... I laughed when I found this old DC article -

Sorry about that. That was my pocket calling.

I'm not joking.... walking back to my car I pull out the phone to check the time, and all I can see is that it is connected and is asking for all these bizarre options... hit the hang up button, check my call log for dialed calls... see that it's you I called. Decided to not call back and apologize.

On a side note, you did call me after one on this past Wednesday..... but, then again, I don't have a wifey.

Mia Culpa.

My pocket is fired.

Yes, Chris Sanders has been running in the stadium every so often lately and came with us to the Southern Miss game. I don't really know his role with the team however...and don't really understand what on earth he's doing back with us.

he's been announcing games all season on Fox. I was going to post it but don't like to give quitters credit.

He stuck with an ArenaBall career for what, 10 years? He's not a quitter. Don't rip him without knowing the circumstances behind his decision years ago. I didn't think that was him in the booth, but if that was him, good for him.

I believe he left when 3 yards and a cloud of dust Mike Cavan came on. He had no choice but to transfer being a passer.

Not true. It was Cavan who started Sanders over Flanigan in the fateful '97 TCU game.

I think it was the arrival of Josh "Send in" McCown(s, there ought to be McCowns).

I thought he did a great job announcing the game. I enjoyed his perspective on things and it showed he knew about both teams. I hope he gets to announce more games in the future.

Yeah he's done pretty good for a guy with a diploma from East Tennesse Tech State College.

Sanders did a good job. I'd much rather listen to him than some of the other clowns (I'm looking at YOU Brian Jones) that have been doing games across the myriad of networks.

My recollection of Sanders' transfer is that he thought he was an NFL quarterback. He also thought he could call plays better than Cavan (maybe he could?). He was never an NFL QB - although he was training camp cannon fodder for the Titans - but he had personality and that serves him well in the broadcast booth.
