If and WHEN.....

the inevitable happens (probably next Saturday) and we are officially eliminated from bowl possibility, I would hope that whoever is running the team would give our 2nd team QB (brain lock, Rhodes?) an opportunity to play. Willis is our QB and the leader of the offense, but he is getting killed and once the season is officially gone he deserves a well earned rest and I would like to see #2 get some experience and some "earned through practice for 2 years" playing time. But please no more redshirt burning from here on out.

Play Rhodes all you want against Houston in the first game after being eliminated from bowl eligibility. I'm reminded that one of the four SMU road wins under PB came in Houston two years ago.

Which assistant would you put in charge over PB? I think Phil will keep running the team until the end of the season but the team and he will be more relaxed, albeit less focused, once bowl eligibility is gone. Heck, hopefully the Ponies win at Tulsa and start a long winning streak like a couple years ago.

For now, SMU is ranked #174 in the latest Sagarin ratings:

The only Bowl Division team with a lower Sagarin rating is #183 North Texas.

I guess he's talking about our 3 game winning streak to close out the 2005 season.

Yes. When expectations are low, a three game winning streak, especially against good teams, is noteworthy. If SMU starts with Tulsa, one of the best teams on the rest of schedule is out of the way. Houston, UTEP and Rice(??) in 2005 to end the season was pretty incredible, and gave the offseason some hope until the UNT game dashed a lot of the '06 enthusiasm only to miss out on a bowl in the final game.

Anyway, assuming the projected loss this weekend occurs, do you think PB will finish out the year as the head coach? If not, who is likely to be the interim replacement? OC?

Between Alridge and that receiver that runs a 2.3 second 40, I am more worried about Houston putting up 100 than I was back in the day they came close.

I'm not looking forward to UH running up the Score, then putting Ganaway in there to pile on.

yeah but in Phil's defense-NOW we know why he so desperately wanted Ganaway at Safety rather than RB.

Excellent point. I have seen entirely too much of the hit, bounce and slide tackling technique.
