While talking about SMU and expenses and the faculty, I was told....

That Chemistry and Biology teachers teach 2 classes per WEEK. not day BUT WEEK.

That means - two hours on Mon-Wed-Friday... or 3 hours on Tues-Thurs.

My mother taught at SMU and MAN have things changed. I know about class preparation, curricurlum ( sp ) planning, printing homework, grading assignments and tests. My mom would take her papers to the Cotton Bowl and grade during time outs and half time.

To me, There could be 1/2 the budget cut by increasing the Class limit from 6 hours a WEEK to 12 hours a WEEK.

What do you guys/dolls think?

I think the number of classes taught by full professors, depends upon their other work. Remember, they pay their own way to some extent through research grants and the like. When they aren't teaching, grading papers, or sipping tea at the faculty club, they are working on either completing work on grants, or applying for new grants. Its a different world out there today. They in essence can buy their way out of teaching classes if they get grants.

Then why the complaints about athletic spending. If they can grant themselves into any financial shape they desire.
