i admit being intrigued by the name of Bowden and the willingness to win that it would imply. But when you think about it, what makes us think Terry Bowden could succeed here? Cuz we are so much like Auburn?
This season is a train wreck and Bennett is toast. Being a 14 point dog to tulsa is ridiculous and is a total indictment of this program. But say this about Bennett: He ran an honorable and clean program. Easier said than done sometimes. Basically, he met SMUs #1 criteria. Honestly, i don't think winning was/is a primary goal of SMU, it would be a nice bonus is all. Priorities are running a clean program, graduating players etc. Nice stuff, but it doesn't pay the bills. Bennett deserves our thanks for doing what SMU asked of him and basically put him in position to do. You people who throw personal insults at the man are idiots.
Truth is Turner Gill has much more of a chance to turn this thing around than Bowden. And by all accounts Gill has integrity.

What about Tommy Bowden if Clemson gives him his walking papers?

We don't know Turner Gill from a man on the moon. He coached at Nebraska, so I question his integrity and anybody else that coached there. They never got caught? Being in NEBRASKA who cared to know. I agree with you hoop fan, that PB done exactly what he was asked to do. In the field house they post GPA's, not football awards?

At this point, no coach can prove he can turn this program around. If/when PB gets canned, the new coach is going to need a few years to make a difference. You're right in that PB kept the program clean but I think any coach is better than him in terms of winning right now. I don't care who takes over, I am sick of PB and his losing ways.

Being at Nebraska means Gill is dirty?
Would you say that Tom Osborne is corrupt, too?
I got to know Coach Gill when he was a graduate assistant coach at SMU. Everyone has faults, but character and integrity are not among them when it comes to Coach Gill. One of the classiest, most moral, straight-forward, hardest-working, honest people I have ever met.

How many years have we been hearing this? Other teams bring in a new coach and go to a bowl game in his first year.....why can't SMU?

Clemson is up 20-3 against Maryland and looking to score again...on the road. This game is huge for Clemson and Tommy Bowden. They could still win the ACC if they get on a roll...but Bowden is "living on the edge"
