Otherwise known as Gen. Patton? Perhaps he's trying to remove himself from the treads of the Tulsa tank that rolled over the Mustangs today.

Tulsa beat SMU. They didn't roll over us. I doubt he will quibble over details; though, I could be wrong.

It was a long day mixed in with youth soccer, youth choir, halloween parties and birthday parties. Had not been through a Saturday quite like that. Started at 7:30 a.m. and we rolled home at 9:30 p.m.

But I listened to some of it on the radio (had to use a vomit bag every time Swann spoke -- such a disgrace) and then when I was out of pocket, people text messaged the details.

I just rolled my eyes when I read how it ended. Typical of the Bennett era.

I'd rather listen to Swann any day over your dumba$$. Just go away.

I really love it when Swann does the following:

1. Talks over Rich Phillips -- constantly -- so you can't hear Rich describe the play.

2. Complains about the officiating until its pretty much whining and crying and embarrasses us. Hey, Swanny, officiating didn't get you to 18-48. Coaching and misreads on recruiting did. But I guess that redneck wouldn't know anything about that.

3. Cheers in the booth like all "professional" broadcsters do.

4. Claps in the background like all "professional" broadcasters do.

5. Talks too much and doesn't let sideline guy John Hampton say anything. When I've heard Hampton, he gives some pretty decent perspective.

It is quite possibly the worst broadcast going in the metroplex. Here's to Orsini not only changing coaches but changing broadcast crews -- or at least the analyst.

For the people, that support Swan, good for you. But then, your broadcast crew is meeting the plateaus as your football team.

You can't hear me. You're reading what I wrote. So there's a difference smart guy.

I personally think Swann and Rich have a certain charm about them. They are ridiculous. But they are our ridiculous broadcasters.

There's a reason they call it a color commentator. That's the whole point. In that regard, Swann is one of the best in the business.

I respectfully disagree. You can add color and not act like a knucklehead -- sorry -- on the air. Swann does that.

I think they are great. True SMU guys that want us to win bad. I will never forget the UAB road game hail mary pass call.....priceless.

Everybody's entitled to their opinion; but to me, guys like Swann are one of the best things SMU has going for it. I actually like his unpredictable nature. They had 2 "Homer Call of the Week" wins in 2005? Can't remember. Anyway, during the voting, when they played the Lindley fumble return against UTEP clip (remember the one with him beating on the glass? "get you some of that, buddy!"), they made a point to play the Oklahoma clip next to it, and compared the two. Their basic point was, Sooners are great on the field, but their color guy is a professional corpse, and is horrible. SMU's team sucks, but their color guy is a maniac, who has passion for the game, and bleeds red and blue. They are actually the ones who used the phrase "best in the business," not me. But I agree with them.

Take Brad Scham for example. He's great at what he does. People in Dallas, and Cowboy fans love this guy, right? A polished, proven professional. That's why "Pony Up w/ Phil" hired him, so we could show the public our big time commitment to college athletics. But I don't get the impression he particularly cares about SMU, or is particularly invested in SMU's welfare or anything we're talking about. I would almost prefer Phillips over Scham, even if he's an NTSU grad.

To me, people like Swann/Phillips are what college football is about. You want those rough edges. Scham is what pro football is about.

I like Scham but you know that he pays no attention to SMU football when he and his cohort showed amazement as to the originality of the "defense offsides everyone freeze" play that we have run for 2 or 3 years and Tulsa ran 3 times yesterday.

You people forget that Brad Sham was our basketball play by play voice back in the 80's. He is a true professional and always treated the games just like he does the Cowboys. I still run into Brad every so often and he always has good things to say about SMU and I do believe that he follows the teams. Maybe not as closely as he once did, but he's still there.

Swannie is the best. I listened to a USC game recently - called by te USC guys on satellite radio. Sanchez throws a touchdown, there's not excitement in the booth.... then five minutes later, dry as a Stephen Wright routine "lost in the excitement in that touchdown, was that was Sanchez's first career touchdown pass." Really it was like listening to an early morning local PBS gardening/health show.

Give me that "He caught it!!! He caught it!!! RICH!!! RICH!!!" any day of the week.

Please do not take what I said as a criticism of Sham. He has a great radio voice, knowledge and a sense of humor. It was just obvious that he had not been actually watching SMU games in the past couple of years. That puts him in line with 99.9875992% of the Dallas population over that time period.

passion in the broadcast booth is what we need. The Rangers fired Vince Cotroneo a few years back for a lack of it. The only thing I can fault Swanny on is too much whining about the officials. Other than that, I thoroughly enjoy listing to SMU homers on the SMU station, whats so bad about that?
