First D-1 coach since the DP?

Not that i think its impossible for a first time coach to be successful, but will this be the first time SMU has hired a guy with D-1 coaching experience since the DP? Forrest Gregg obviously coached the Packers but never D-1 I dont think.

Gregg coached the Bengals to a Super Bowl in 1981.
