Some interesting quotes from Craig James, Craig Swann, RC Slocum, Justin Willis, and Ben Poynter on PB's firing.

If you take Willis at his word, and there's no reason not to, his quotes validate two things.

1. What he said that he wants to be at SMU and the talk of him transferring are now a thing of the past.

2. Whatever tight relationship he did have with Bennett went through some turmoil this year. That's speculation but it makes sense.

It also appears James wants to be involved and I agree with Pony in SA in his other thread that he and Dickerson should be involved to some extent.

Look at this way, Mack Brown and Bob Stoops made sure they included the greats in their program's history to help rebuild success. We should be doing that here.

Does that mean welcome back Ron Meyer of Bobby Collins? That might be too dicy. But certainly, the players should be welcomed by like those two Jerry Ball and Wes Hopkins.

The General has spoken.

It makes all the sense in the world for the new coach to call on all former players and get them involved, not just CJ, ED, Jerry Ball, etc. but also some more recent guys who played for us, bled for us, etc.

How bout also calling on Bordano, Luke Johnson, Rhinehart, etc. and getting them involved also ? If I had any input, I would suggest the school spending some money on a lettermen gathering with the new coach where we flew some guys in, put them up in a hotel, paid for them to play golf together and have a nice dinner.

Not only would be probably be paid back more with dontations these guys may make back to the school, it would show them we like to take care of our own. Most important, it would also show the current players and recruits that SMU will take care of our lettermen. Other schools are doing this, we should do more like this if we aren't already.
