It will be interesting to see how that "timeline" works to get the kids they want for education and coaching.

Big question, can Orsini tell candidates they can sell recruits on those types of things immediately? I know David94 said 6-8 months. I wonder if that means they would be available for the 2008-09 academic calendar.

The school better pony up and make this happen.

I am truely sorry Bennett couldn't get it done here. It is sort of a cliche to say he is a classy guy...although he is. I really believe he loves SMU and wanted to be the one who brought us back to respectibility and glory too. He worked very hard at it and I appreciate the effort, but even he understands results are what count. He is a man of honor and principles. He will do well where ever he goes and I wish him only the best.

Nice to see that Orsini realizes he needs to make some changes, many of which we've advocated on here for a long time. Athletic-friendly majors would be a nice start

Maybe five years down the road (if) when we're starting to really crank out the wins, we can call him up, ask him to come to a home game, stand at midfield and everybody says a genuine thank you to Phil for putting in the time, the effort, and getting us just to the brink. Fantasy, but I think it would be very nice, and classy.

Cavan, too. For toiling with even tougher restrictions while in the "who cares?" WAC.

Mr. Cavan left this program about as bare as one could. The last 2 to 3 years he did not put in the work to pre-qualify potential recruits. We had 20 guys at 5'9" and 4-7 speed given ships. 7 guys bigger than 270 on the whole team.

Bennett has greatly improved the talent. Now we hope to get better and go further.

Here's hoping the administration makes all the necessary changes and not just some. I don't want us to add Kinesiology and 5 years from now still have our exiting coach say we are not on an even footing with our competitors. That has been the SMU way the last 20 years and as far as I am concerned is still the way things are done at SMU.

Bennett not bitter? Why should he have any reason to be bitter?

PB is not exactly walking away from SMU "empty handed". He is getting a much better severance package than most employees get in corporate America.
