Turner Gill could be huge at SMU

more upside than anyone else we could get in my opinion and hardly any downside. look at his resume, he has it all.

sorry, but i can just see a guy like Bowden imploding here if things don't go his way, and then what? I am not risk averse, but think about it. What are the real odds that Bowden can turn this around quickly and will he have the patience if it doesn't happen within a couple years? Same goes for an older guy like Barnett.

I also question whether those guys have the energy for this job at this point in their lives/careers. It ought to be considered carefully.

Agreed. If we could get him here, it would be big. I feel the same way about Applewhite. However, I think convincing either to come here will be tough. Of the more realistic choices, I'd focus on O'Leary, Price, and Barnett in that order. Bowden hasn't coached in a decade. While his family name is big, he's far removed from the game and would be a huge gamble in my opinion. We really need to get it right this time. Unlike when Bennett took over, the cupboard isn't bare this time around, so I think a season like Cavan's first year is likely.

Would hate to see Bowden implode, but if he failed, I wouldn't mind if he or someone with some national credibility expoded and called out the administration and held them accountable. No one should be satisfied with anyone in the administration that has partcipated in 20 years of failure and failed to re-unite the alumni base!

the cupboard on defense is pretty close to bare unless you are talking about untested freshman. Big rebuilding job on defense that needs to be addressed immediately with JUCOs at LB-as in about 3 JUCOs at LB.

I agree about all of the linebackers and we need a playmaker in the secondary as well as on the d-line-

A serious question. How would Gill do in recruiting Texas?

He just needs to stay away from the all you can eat Mexican buffet. Scratch that, he would lose weight if he went to the all you can eat Mexican buffet, then he wouldn't be huge.

We could bring in 11 Juco's on defense and it would not be wasted. Depth is needed, too.

Who would do the recruiting at this moment, exactly?

Easy. We ain't looking to be "cost effective," bean-counter-boy.

We're lookin' to splash. S-P-L-A-S-H! There are no beans in splash.
