Other names for consideration

Post by BRStang »

1) Kevin Wilson (OC OU)
2) Pat Hill (HC Fresno St.)
3) Will Muschamp (DC Auburn)
4) Mike Bobo (OC Georgia)
5) Bo Pelini (DC LSU)
6) Charlie Strong (DC Florida)
7) Jackie Sherrill (What the hell?)

I'm not endorsing any of these, just throwing them out there. What if Bowden, Gill, Barnett, etc. aren't interested or are just too expensive? (Just saying.)

Thoughts?

Might as well throw Steve Logan on that list (former ECU HC and current BC assistant) I think he's one of the reasons for Matt Ryan 's emergence.

I'd have no problem if Logan was selected as SMU's next HC.

What would be Pat Hill's motivation for leaving Fresno State? He has enjoyed success there and has a larger recruiting base (state school in a larger state). His play anybody, anytime, anywhere attitude has given FSU tremendous exposure. What would attract him to SMU?

That said, his teams play hard hitting football and don’t back down to anybody. What a breath of fresh air that would be at SMU.

No way he comes here. He's always said he wants to turn Fresno into the next Florida State.

And he can sign any one he wants even ones with noticable academic deficiencies. And a friend I know from Nebraska says Bo Pellini is going there.

I can see that and would help us if we want to go after Turner Gill

BRStang-why do insist on trying to get Coaches from schools that practice my Model or worse yet then claim our Coach does not lose because he can't go after the same players that the Coaches listed above can. Why don't you go find a Coach at Wake Forest, Duke Vandy, Tulane or Rice to emulate? You are one of the worst on this board at talking out both sides of your mouth. Clearly, infatuated with the Big Time BCS schools-not willing to allow SMU to play the same game.

Stallion, again, I agree with you on the kinesiology major and JUCO/transfer credit hour issue. That seems to be a real problem, AND THERE IS EVIDENCE TO SUPPORT IT. I don't necessarily disagree with you on the academic requirement issue, but I have yet to see evidence that some Joe McKnight would be told he could not get into school at SMU. I even heard Orsini say otherwise.

If Joe McKnight did not get into SMU and that's why he's playing for USC and not SMU, by all means go postal in Faculty-Senate. But, I believe the main reasons that even 3 and 4 star recruits are not playing at SMU is because no one wants to play for a loser in C-USA and PB couldn't SELL THEM OTHERWISE!

Not to try to flame, or anything, but if y'all hired Sherrill the NCAA would set up headquarters on the Hilltop.

WOW...Stallion is now responsible for the Model that is widely used throughout the NCAA. I never knew I was in the midst of such greatness.

Curtis Luper (African American), great recruiter in the Texas market. Currently the running backs coach at Oklahoma State University. Knows the Texas market well and relates well with athletes and is considered one of the top recruiters in the nation. Players want to play for him. The other is also an OSU coach..Larry Fedora with Texas roots. Offensive Coordinator at OSU and University of Florida. Was also Office Coordinator at Middle Tennessee State which at the time had one of the most prolific offenses in the nation. I believe he has also coached at Baylor.

Evidently you missed where he trademarked "Model". It was about a week ago.
