Then my apologies. I've been working crazy hours lately and haven't been able to keep up with all the new posts. Kudos to whoever brought it up earlier though, cuz I still find it amusing since anyone who has ever coached a winning season at any level is being mentioned as a potential replacement for Bennett. The Jim Tressell one cracked me up!

Does anyone know what Bum Phillips is up to these days?......

Working his ranch near Goliad, TX and endorsing his line of sausage. Bum's coaching days are over. He was an asst. coach at SMU back in the early 60s. ;)

That fact I did not know. Being a lifelong Oilers (and I must admit, still a Titans) fan, that's a pretty cool tidbit of info to know. Thanks for the insight. (And I'm not being sarcastic. I really had no idea Bum was part of the Pony tradition!)

Bum was at Jacksonville high too

Bum Phillips coached one year at Jacksonville High. Legends here say that he told the basketball coach not to schedule any non-district games because the football team would be in the playoffs and skilled athletes would not be available for basketball until the Xmas break.
