Leach and Texas Tech

Post by ponyfan84 »

So I have a question. Why is it that he's still the coach there? Yea he's had winning seasons for as long as I can remember. Yea he's constantly producing the leading offenses in the country. Yea his QB's year in and year out throw for 3,000 + yards and 30+ TDs. But why is he still the coach? Does Tech not have any desire to win a national title? are they content with just winning? For a team in the Big 12 you'd think they'd want to compete with OU and Texas, but they never come close to the national title race (I can't remember the last time they were mentioned in the same sentence as BCS Championship Game), let alone the Big 12 title. They seem to average 3-5 losses per year. Despite my hatred towards that program and everything they stand for, I ask this simple question.

Plus I was bored and thought this would be a nice distraction from all the 'future SMU coach" threads. Anyone care to comment?

You answered your own question. He's doing as good a job as one could expect. He ain't going to outrecruit the UT's and OUs for top players to go to school in Lubbock and that is the missing ingredient-top flight talent.

not many people have won at Tech as consistently as he as. That is why he has a decent shot at the UCLA or Arizona jobs when they open. Imagine his offense with UCLAs athletes and Dwayne Walker's defense.

john saldi took me out, went to the midnight rodeo, woke up in the morning in a bath tub covered in vomit... and last time i visited all they wanted to show me was the new addition to the football stadium and how close the law school parking was to the basketball arena... i wish i had your tour!

speaking of Tech, if we hire Barnett/Mason/Bowden....can we get Dykes to be our OC?

I was always a huge fan of Dykes Offensive Coordinator-forgot his name-he's the guy that always has his OLM run the line and have the QB deliberately walk to line and sometimes quick snap the ball. Had success at TCU too where they fell of the board offensively when he retired before this year. Guy probably put up over 30 ppg in the last 20 years combined.

Stoops is prob out at Arizona, Dykes never was really a play caller at Tech, and if stoops gets canned he is out of a job.....Bowden with Dykes as the OC?

Mike Stoops is a HORRIBLE head coach. Arizona is a sleeping giant and he cant win 6 games there with great recruits
