a friend called me this morning
his son plays for the Cougars
his side/Houston side of the story was this:
last night's bad blood began when some
SMU players during the pre-game warmups
started stomping on the U-of-H logo
he said coach briles approached Coach Phil and
said "why do you let your players conduct
themselves that way?" Coach Phil said "what"?
and that he was unaware of what they had done.
And then Coach Briles said "don't you have control
of your players?".
he also said Justin Willis was talking trash the
whole night. He said that Justin was even talking
trash directly to the Houston head coach. After a run
down the sideline Justin supposedly screamed
"Coach Briles this is what I am gonna do all night long".
i guess it started last year when the Houston players
ran through the group of SMU players during warmup?
this could be a good rivalry over the next few years!

There were also those Duster Dildos (or whatever they call themselves) running the flags through the Team on the field during the game.

I would imagine that bad blood started long before last night. I seem to remember, during SMU's first season back from the Death Penalty, a U of H team running up the stats and score to get their QB a Heisman. It worked but it certainly pushed the boundaries of sportsmanship.
Perhaps a rivalry is developing. Perhaps not. I don't see where either team comports themselves like a Naval Academy team. It will make next year’s game a bit more spicy and maybe spicy enough that we have a sell out!

1989 was when I really started my hatred for the coogs
I remember going to a chalk talk when FORREST GREGG
was here and him saying you could spell cat like kat
and get into U.H.

Glad JW was trash talking. What, like UH wasn't talking too? It shows his desire to win and his competetiveness in this game. I like the fire this kid's got, despite all that's going on. He was all smiles last night.

Yeah the fans were definatly rude and if one thought the fans were rude, the security folks are really bad. It almost made everything the players did seem like sugar and spice.

Your team game out in warmups and stomped on the logo. Then they taunted our players as they came out of the locker room and we're classless? Wow.
By the way, nice job of quitting in the fourth quarter. 6 minutes and down 10 and you punt, then don't call timeout. You should be proud.

Ware never played past the second quarter.

Interesting about that 1989 Houston team, they were on probation. Just like us, they didn't go to a bowl either. A 9-2 season that went up like dust in the wind.

But they did end up #14 in the nation. Not too bad.

#14 means nothing with no post season, in my opinion
