His name fell off our radar a couple of weeks ago.
I'm curious to know why, especially since his team just ended the longest losing streak known to the sporting world.
The Orsini connection mean anything here?
Not saying this is a good or bad choice.
But they rebounded nicely after the Delaware debacle. 5-4 with 3 to play.
Just keeping his name out there on our radar.

I think that win might have gotten him the Georgia Tech or Nebraska job

I haven't mentioned him because I don't think we can get him. If I am wrong in my assumption, I think he would be a great choice!

Face the facts. SMU will not be able to hire a good coach. Everybody loses at SMU. Best thing for SMU to do is trying cheating again but this time have the intelligence not to get caught.

everything i have read points to the fact that hes on to bigger and better things (aka, nebraska [if they don't go for Bo Pelini], arkansas, etc). Would be a great hire if we could get him.
Still like Bowden, Gill, Barnett and Nutt myself.

Yeah seriously, I didn't think you could pay your coach in food stamps.
GO MUSTANGS!

Art makes around a 1 million like that has anything to do with SMU. SMU program has been horrible for a long time. Theres no way a coach with any other choices would pick to coach at SMU.

Several reasons: (1) Johnson is making $1.5 Million a year AND STILL UNDER CONTRACT, (2) He has it made at Navy, (3) Navy is on our schedule the next two years. I don't think they'll let us talk to him for that reason.

I don't see that as a step up for him. At best a lateral move, if not a step down.

If anyone can make Johnson leave Navy it would be Nebraska. He can run his offense there, recruit the athletes he needs to be successful, and pull down $3million a year+ with a gig like that.

Art Briles is an alumnus of UH-why in the hell would he want to do something silly like go Coach at Baylor. If he wants to leave his alma mater he ought to stay at UH-get all the marginal recruits and wait at his alma mater until he gets the job he can't turn down. I'd be real surprised if his deam job is Baylor. Speaking of Baylor-Oscar the Most Interesting Cat in the World should be heading North up Highway 90 toward Waco

So Paul Johnson will be able to recruit top athletes to Nebraska-out recruit Stoops and Brown and the rest? Where's the track record. Tom Osborne at Nebraska is not that dense. No way he gets that job. If he does he'll get fired as fast as the other recent Nebraska Coaches. I think this rumors are Sports' Writers naivete.
