I was thinking the same thing. I understand he can't speculate with the rest of us, but he managed to wiggle his way out of answering direct questions.

Steve Orsini: Just to clear up some misconceptions, SMU does have a nationally competitive admissions process and an attractive academic curriculum that a prospective student-athlete can be successful in.

I think this just adds to the misconception?????

I thought many of the questions were good and were deserving of a straight answer. I don't understand why O took the approach he did. There's nothing to hide. He's not running for office. He has a lot of support. I'm just puzzled by his unwillingness to shed some light on some of the issues. While HC names should be confidential, he could have explained how we are competitive in terms of admissions.

I also thought he was totally dismissive of the in-and-out policy at Ford.

Can't really blame the guy for not spilling his guts to a bunch of people with nothing better to do than sit around a computer watching a live chat (of which I am guilty).....

I bet he would shoot more straight person to person or in a setting of concerned SMU alumni....

I was disappointed. Why have a chat, at this critical juncture, and tap dance around most of the well thought-out questions. The only affirmatives he offered were where the statement/questions complimented Daugherty.

Shoot straight, man are you out of the loop. He is a figure head, and nothing else. There is nothing he can do that has not been tried and done. He will just make you feel good about it. Example Doh, why is he here? Because the rest of the coaching world knows he can't coach. Played on national championship team(s), UNC alumni, and coaching BB at SMU in Dallas, Tx? C'mon DUDE even you are not that stupid. We are [deleted] again!

Too bad he gave some unnecessarily generic answers, some of the questions he didnt even address partially
