Coach Barnett is interested in continuing to teach and mentor at a first-rate Division I institution.
All allegations alleged against the football program at CU have been thoroughly investigated with the full cooperation and encouragement of Coach Barnett. The facts have been exposed and not a single charge, sanction or penalty has been imposed against any player, coach or program of the University of Colorado as a result of the tutelage of Coach Barnett. Indeed, Coach Barnett was honored for his integrity during the investigation. He is prepared to address any concerns and urges you to investigate the facts to place the matter in proper perspective.
Coach Barnett continues his passion for teaching students through other initiatives. His foundation has a mission to support educational programs for economically disadvantaged and at-risk youth.
Coach Barnett consults with former colleagues and athletic administrators to improve institutional control over student athletes.
Coach Barnett is color commentator on Sports USA Radio and is a commentator on the Bowl Championship Series Show, produced twice weekly for Fox Television

If he can clear the allegations, he will be our next coach.

EMPHASIZE
That Barnett was the Coach of Northwestern when it won the NCAA Academic Aceivement Award with a PERFECT 100% graduation rate and he has a lifetime graduation rate of 79%. He's graduated his players at a much more difficult school than SMU. Tier 1-100% Graduation Rate. Now tell me that any faculty member can have a problem with the academic side?

He has the best resume for what we need. That is the most important aspect to this search. It's not the best coach, it's the best coach for your needs/system. There is no other candidate who is a better fit for us than Gary Barnett. He won at a small private school with serious academic restrictions while playing in a BCS conference. He graduated his players. And he played in a major city with pro sports that has little or no interest in Northwestern. And when Northwestern won, it was national news, they became amercia's team. The man has done it before!!!!

Here's the kiss of death: I now endorse Gary Barnett. Now there is aboslutely no way SMU will hire him. Who is next in line for the job? I want to start my crying early.

....Anyways, I think he would be one of the best coaches to meet our programs needs. It appears he has the deepest resume of rebuilding programs successfully. He would be a great catch for SMU.

[/quote]...................I'm not saying Coach Barnett is perfect, but I have always thought some of the charges/rumors stated against him in the past were false. Terry Bowden remains my 1st Choice with Gary Barntt a close 2nd. Both are great Coaches.

Yeah, no kidding! I don't understand why some keep saying if SMU clears him of the charges? He has been cleared. Maybe not forgiven by the court of public opinion, but definitely cleared of all charges.
