Nolan Richardson

Postby bigdaddy08091 » Thu Nov 08, 2007 4:24 pm

I remember when Nolan Richardson won the JUCO national championship in BB in my hometown on Snyder, Tx, (Edmonson and I are from the same place). Everyone on Nolans players were from Virginia, New York, and so on. They were a bunch of thugs! The little town of Snyder, Tx never had any problems with these kid and most were damn good students. Nolan ruled the roost and did not take any [deleted] from any player. He took a chance on several of them and they knew it was Western Texas JC or home. They also knew Nolan would kick the [deleted] out of them if they did not abide by the laws and school. When Nolan went to Tulsa, the program at WTC ended. Players ran wild, got into truoble with the law, never went to school. They just recently started up the program again. That is how long the scares last. The even playing field will bring in some players not wanted on the hilltop. It will take a special coach. The names jumping out there right now do not fit the bill for change, but with our current model, maybe. I am also confused about the some of the same people being on the search committee for the last 20 years, since Hayden Frye. Are they ever gonna get it right? We need change everywhere.

Gotta wait until he quits getting his $1,000,000/year from Arkansas. That should be ending soon, but until then, he just enjoys life.

Big Daddy, the search committee may be familiar but the AD is new and has a proven track record of picking a coach that he wants (see baskbetball search with same familiar search committee) and he will make the pick. Big Daddy, who is your pick for HC?

Point is, if we bring in recruits that do not fit the model we must have a coaching staff that can handle the fallout, because there will be SOME. Biggest issue we have had in a while is Slater and the boys coming to the rescue of Lobo, or should I say Slater and the boys pulling Lobo off three mexicans.

Doh was available. Nobody else wanted him including his own alma mater. He could have made as an assistant at NC what he is making here, but the free world knows he can't coach. Now, back to your question. I really don't know! I just know we must have somebody that can recruit in Texas. Nobody mentioned so far can do that but Fran, and that is a crazy hire. Fran is [deleted]. Left Alabama, and screwed up at aTm. How does he continue to get hired for big jobs?

[the free world knows he can't coach.

Can we at least give him a year to prove it? Want to bring Tubbs back?

Hell no! That was the old AD (can't think of his name) taking his frustrations out on the institution. Tubbs sucked as well. How can we have the best institution in the world and the worst coaches?

Give him 7 years; he'll eventually do something - plus I get tired of the hype that comes with each new coach

Oh, Snyder has a pipeline to TCU. Grimmetts (Grimmett brothers construction. Took care of the old Ranger Stadium Grass), and Gary Patterson. Not the coach.
